Google Chrome
- Open Chrome and click the three dots menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Go to Settings.
- Click Privacy and security, then Site settings.
- Scroll down to "Additional permissions" and select Automatic downloads.
- You can then choose to allow or block automatic downloads from different sites.
Microsoft Edge
- Open Edge and click the three dots menu (⋮)
- Open settings
In the left menu, select “Privacy, search, and services.”
Scroll down to “Security.”
You’ll see “Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.”
This feature blocks potentially unsafe files.
You can turn it OFF entirely (not recommended) or leave it ON and add trusted sites to exceptions.
Mozilla Firefox
Open Mozilla Firefox and click the three dots menu (⋮)
Go to “Privacy & Security” in the left menu.
Scroll to the “Permissions” section.
Ensure the “Block dangerous downloads” or “Warn you about unwanted software” isn’t overly restrictive:
If enabled, it will still allow most downloads but may flag suspicious files.
You can click “Exceptions” next to certain permissions to whitelist specific sites.
