This article will take you through the process of setting up local LDAP authentication for SmartSuite and TV4Education.
Prerequisites
- Operational Windows Server or workstation with Internet Information Service (IIS) 7.5 or higher installed. Click here for instructions on setting up IIS
- .NET Framework 4.0 framework installed.
- The Windows Server that will be running SSRS must be attached to the domain.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Active Directory and the domain structure.
- External access on 443 (https), Public SSL certificate and a Public DNS binding configured to the server running SSRS.
Installing the SSRS
1. Download and unzip a copy of: https://v2.tv4education.com/LocalServicePatch/FSI_LocalService_Install3.0.0.zip
2. Right-click the SmartSuiteLocalService_Installer.exe and select "Run as Administrator" to install the application.
*Please note* This application is used for our SSLS (Local streaming) as well as the SSRS (WA SSO) so some areas of the install will be skipped.
3. Let's fill out the Form section by section starting with
FSI Detail.
- Enter your Org ID - If you are unsure of your Org ID create a ticket in the MailBox and ask us.
- Enter the Key given to you by our CS staff
- Enter the Secret given to you by our CS staff
4. Click Check Settings.
Local Detail
- Install Path - Select the install path
- Local Site - Select the website you are installing the SSLS to
- Domain - If you are using a Domain Admin account enter the Domain here.

Admin User - Enter the user that the service will use to run (this needs to be an administrator)
- Admin Password - Enter the password for the Admin user.

Service URL - Enter your school's Service URL
You can skip the Local Stream fields.
Remote Login

Domain Server
This is the primary server that you would like to authenticate with
e.g. servername.myschool.local -
Domain Name
This is the name of your school's domain
e.g. myschool.local - Domain Directory
This is the organizational unit filtering. If you are wanting to allow all user to authenticate to SSRS enter the primary user organizational unit
e.g.
USERS!!OU=School Users
If you are needing to locate your domain information, run the command whoami /FQDN in cmd.
The two tick boxes at the bottom.
- Service URL accessible outside school - Is the URL externally accessible?
- School External IP is a dedicated IP - The IP cannot be Dynamic.
Once you have entered all the information click Install.
You can follow the install process on the right. If the install is successful you will receive the following popup, Click op to complete the install.
Configuring the SSRS integration Tool
Once you have completed the installation of the SSRS you will be able to access the Configurator. To access it follow the steps below.
1. In an internet browser, Navigate to http://localhost/ssls
This will ask you to create a password for the configurator.
Create a password of your choosing. then click Set Password
2. You will be taken to the login page and you will be asked to enter the password you just created.
3. Once logged in the configuration page will appear. Click on "Remote Login Service" to check all settings are correct.
This page should have picked up most of the information from the install process, If not make sure you enter in the correct information and click Save.
4. Once the configuration is complete, email Support@functionalsolutions.com.au the public DNS of the SSRS server e.g https://fs.schoolofawesome.wa.edu.au/ssrs/page/ssrs
5. FSI Customer Service will be in contact to test the new authentication method.
